Give us a brief summary of your current role at Atlas Hotels
Before joining Atlas hotels I worked in hotels for 17 years, starting as a chef when I was 15 before moving to Conference & Events. I have spent time working in reservations before spending 6 years as part of a central revenue team for Village Hotels. In 2014 I moved back into Operations, as Guest Experience Manager at INNSIDE by Melia, Manchester before moving to AC by Marriot as Operations Manager. During the lockdown, I worked at an Amazon Fulfilment Centre. It’s great to be back in hospitality.
Tell us about your life outside of work, what would people normally find you doing?
Most of my time is spent with my family. I also enjoy watching football, I’m a big Liverpool FC fan, working over the road from Old Trafford it doesn’t always go down well with the guests on a match day.
What are you most grateful for in 2020?
I had a baby boy called Theo 2 weeks before the first lockdown, I know how tough 2020 was for many people but for me personally, 2020 was amazing, I got to spend more time with him than I would of if things were “normal”.
Which one of the Atlas values means the most to you and why? (Be Guest Focused, Work Together, Show Commitment, Strive for Quality)
For me the Atlas value that means the most is Work Together, I’ve worked in some amazing hotels that have achieved a lot of success. If it wasn’t for the teams I’ve worked with we wouldn’t have achieved as much. I’m really looking forward to working with the team at Salford Quays, we have new starters that bring with them a lot of experience from different industries. Add this to the team that is already there and it’s exciting times ahead.
If you had to pick one song that got you through 2020, which song would it be?
Tough one, I love music and listen to all sorts, I probably couldn’t say one song that got me through 2020. I have listened to the Alvin and the Chipmunks theme tune a couple of hundred times since my baby was born, he’s a big fan so I’d reluctantly have to say that.
