I’ve worked for Atlas for around 13 years in total. I previously worked as a GSM at Holiday Inn Express Glasgow City Centre Riverside from 2004 to 2007. I then rejoined the company in August 2010 as a GSM at Holiday Inn Express Glasgow Airport. I’d always been interested in the Revenue side of hotels and an opportunity came up to join the Revenue team in January 2014 as a Junior Revenue Manager. I’ve been with the team ever since and have been working in my current role as Area Revenue Manager since 2016. In that time, both the team and my role has evolved and I’m currently responsible for revenue managing seven of our hotels and this includes setting strategy; forecasting and budgeting amongst other tasks.
In normal, non-global pandemic times, I like getting out and about and socialising with friends and family. I like to travel and usually manage to squeeze in a couple of city breaks and some sunshine throughout the year. I spend a lot of time reading and particularly enjoy crime fiction. I also enjoy a good Netflix series and managed to get through a few of those during lockdown over the last year.
There are lots of things to be grateful for in 2020 – mainly that we got through a tough year and that my family and friends are all healthy. I’m grateful to work with a fantastic team of people not only in Revenue but within the wider Commercial Team and within Atlas as a whole. Communication this year has been open and transparent and I think everyone within the company has pulled together through a difficult period.
I think all of the Atlas values are all very important and are interlinked. For me, Work Together is particularly important in my role – as a function Revenue works closely with Groups & Meetings, Sales & Marketing and Operations.
Well, Spotify tells me that my Bruce Springsteen playlist has been my most played this year and it varies day to day as to which song I love the most but a particular favourite is Tougher than the Rest.
